CallerMy geyser's leaking into the ceiling. Do you come out to Bothasig?

De Wet Plumbing

01:02

30 calls included

AssistantYes, Bothasig is in Johan's area — and a leaking geyser he'd treat as urgent.

Answer like a business with a receptionist

It picks up while your hands are full, works out what the caller needs, and gets the job written down properly.

A tradesman welding a pipe in a trench with both hands occupied, unable to reach a ringing phone.

Win the job

The caller gets an answer instead of a ringtone, so they stop scrolling for the next name on the list.

No more voicemail

Nobody leaves voicemails any more. They ring the next plumber. This answers, so they don't have to.

Never miss a lead

Name, suburb, job and a confirmed callback number, on your WhatsApp within a minute.

It knows your business before it picks up

A voicemail knows nothing. You spend five minutes telling this one how you work, and it uses that on every call after.

Your hours

When you're working, and what to say to someone phoning at nine on a Sunday night.

Your areas

The suburbs you'll drive to. Someone outside them gets a straight answer, not a wasted callback.

What you charge

Callout fees and ranges you've given it. Nothing else — it will never make a number up.

What you do

The jobs you take and the ones you don't, so it isn't booking work you gave up two years ago.

Your usual questions

"Do you work Saturdays?", "do you do quotes?" — answered, not written down for later.

What's an emergency

Your call. Burst geyser, no power, someone locked out. It tries your phone first.

Hear it

Listen before you believe a word of this

A real recording of the assistant taking a call — knowing the service area, spotting an urgent job, and reading the number back. Nothing to fill in.

A scripted example in the voice we'd use, not a real customer.

Want to talk to it yourself?

Leave your details and we'll show you the number to ring. It's a live call to a real assistant, so we keep it for people who are actually interested.

What it does on a call you couldn't take

In order, every time.

Answers in your name

Not "the person you have called is unavailable". Your business, straight away.

Works out what's wrong

Their name, the suburb, the job, how urgent it is — and answers what it can.

Puts emergencies through

If it's the kind of job you said can't wait, it tries your phone before taking a message.

Books it, if you want

Only slots that fit the rules you set. Prefer to ring people back yourself? Turn it off.

Reads the number back

Out loud, every single call. A lead with one digit wrong is worth nothing.

Tells you both

The job lands on your WhatsApp, and the caller is told when you'll ring back.

Where we draw the line

Letting a computer talk to your customers is a fair thing to be nervous about. So some things are ruled out, permanently.

Never pretends to be a person

Ask it, and it says it's an assistant answering for the business. Anything else is a lie your customer eventually catches.

Never invents a price

Only what you've given it. If it doesn't know, it says so and takes a callback. A confidently wrong quote costs you the job and the money.

Never guesses a number

It reads the callback number back and confirms it aloud on every call, without exception.

Never touches calls you answer

Only calls that ring out reach it. Pick up as normal and it never knows the call happened.

Start taking calls in five minutes

Tell us how you work

Hours, the suburbs you cover, the jobs you take, your callout fee, what counts as an emergency. About five minutes, once.

Dial one code on your phone

We send you a code that looks like **61*087…#. Dial it once and your network sends unanswered calls to your assistant. Keep your number, keep your provider.

Get back to work

Answer your phone whenever you can — those calls never reach us. Everything else gets handled and lands on your WhatsApp.

The things people ask us

Is this just voicemail that types out the message?

No. It holds a conversation. Because it knows your hours, areas, prices and usual questions, it can answer the caller rather than only recording them.

Do I have to change my number?

No. You keep the number you've always used and the one on your van. One short code tells your network where to send calls you don't pick up.

What if it's a real emergency?

You decide what counts as one for your trade. When it hears one, it tries to put the caller straight through to you before it does anything else.

Can it book jobs into my diary?

If you want. You set which jobs it may book and when, and it offers only slots that fit. Prefer to ring people back yourself? Leave booking off.

What if I get more than 30 calls in a month?

We'll phone you and work out a fair price together. While we're starting out we'd rather have that conversation than run a meter on you — nobody's first month should end in a bill they didn't expect.

Will it sound South African?

Yes. Your customers shouldn't get an American call-centre voice when they phone a plumber in Bellville.

What about callers who switch between languages?

It's built for how people actually speak here. Where it isn't sure it asks again rather than guessing — especially with phone numbers.

Are calls recorded, and who sees them?

Callers are told before recording starts, as POPIA requires. Recordings and messages are encrypted and your call data stays in South Africa. Ask us to delete everything and we will.

First five

Tell us where to reach you

We'll phone you to set it up. If it turns out we're not right for your business, we'll tell you that instead of selling you something.

We use your details to contact you about Your Receptionist and nothing else. We don't sell them, and you can ask us to delete them whenever you like — your right under POPIA, and we'd honour it anyway.
